Martin Foreman Bio

My first introduction to the game of golf was at a very early age by my mother and father, I started having lessons with my father at the age of 7 at Belfairs Golf Course. When I had reached a reasonable standard my father bought me a season ticket for the golf course which enabled me to play and practice as much as I liked, almoEssex Golf Coachst all my free time was spent practicing and playing the course, it was also helped by living at the back of the 18th fairways!

At the age of 12 I joined Boyce Hill Golf Club in Benfleet, Essex as a cadet member where I represented the club at first team level, I also represented the Essex County Boys Team where we toured America on one occasion.

I worked with my father at Belfairs after school and every weekend to learn the ropes of a Golf Professional, from a very early age I knew I wanted to follow my father into the Profession, this I achieved once my Handicap was at the standard the PGA required, I turned professional when I was 18 and worked with my father as one of his Assistant Golf Professionals. I became a fully qualified Golf Professional after 3 years training. Within this time I played in numerous golf events of which winning the Essex Assistants Match Play and Stroke Play were one of my most memorable moments.

My ambition became true when I took over from my father at Belfairs Golf Course in 1995 as Head Professional where I was based until 2002, I then chose to concentrate on the teaching side and I moved to Leigh Driving Range where I became the resident Teaching Professional.

Over the years I have built up a large client base not only from visitors to the range but also members from many local golf clubs.

I like to think my simple approach to teaching the game of golf would appeal to the vast majority of club players, we are not all ‘Tiger Woods’ however rest assured I will get the best out of your potential ability and hopefully you will enjoy “The Game of Golf”.
